Colleen Dodson

Age 78 of Texico, Illinois and formerly Goose Lake, passed away Friday October 4, 2013 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Born September 13, 1935 in Chicago Heights, Loretta Colleen was the oldest of the late Walter and Myrtle Ellison-Soltysik's twelve children. She was raised and educated in Chicago, and on April 13, 1957 Colleen married Donald Lee Dodson in Wilmington. Colleen was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, and took delight in her hawaiian singing group where she played the ukulele. She will be remembered for her love of oil painting, and painted anything she could around the house.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Donald; daughter Heather (Robert) Wolf of Gardner; four grandchildren: Joshua Hall, Erica Hall, Robert Wolf, Jr. and Mallory Wolf; two sisters: Susan (the late Terry) Frost of Wilmington and Pam (Jack) McGowan of Florida; two brothers-in-law: James (Freda) Dodson and Robert (Donna) Dodson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers: Robert, Phillip, John, Daniel, Richard, Roger and Ronald Soltysik; and two sisters: Patricia Cerchio and Phyllis Schewe.

Green cremation services are being accorded and a celebration of Colleen's life is being planned for a later date.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Colleen's memory to the American Heart Association.
