Clarence C. Clements
Age 86 of Wilmington and formerly Elwood, passed away Monday June 09, 2008 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home in Joliet.
Born August 15, 1921 in Tanneyville, Missouri, Clarence was a son of the late Lawrence David and Estlee Susan Day-Clements. He was a Veteran of the United States Army Air-Corp, having served during World War II, and on August 12, 1946 Clarence married Eva Gray in Tanneyville, Missouri. He was employed in the maintenance department at UniRoyal and later worked for Kerr Glass in Plainfield, where he retired as a Machinist. Clarence was a member of the Wilmington Island Squares and was known to be an avid reader. In his free time Clarence also enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
Survivors include three children: Carol A. Clements of Wilmington, Gregory I. Clements of Coal City and Lawrence C. (Joan) Clements of Braceville. (10) Grandchildren; (20) Great Grandchildren; one sister Lora Marie Knapp of Clarence, Missouri; one brother Allen (Petra) Clements of Ocala, Florida; one son-in-law Larry J. Howard of Champaign, Illinois and one daughter-in-law Wanda Clements of Morris, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; wife Eva in 1989; one daughter Daphne Howard in 2004; one son Rodney A. Clements in 2007; two grandchildren: Shawn Clements and Cale Clements; two sisters: Rowena Huff and Eunice King and one brother Leonard Clements.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 11, 2008 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM and Thursday June 12th from 9:00AM until time of funeral service 10:00AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington. Rev. David Lagos-Fonseca and Rev. Shirley Pulgar-Hughes will officiate the services and burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery in Elwood with Steven Berta, Michael McCammond, Benjamin Clements, Nicole Clements, Allen Clements and Craig Cipriano acting as pallbearers.
Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Clarence's memory to the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, Illinois 60431
