Christopher W. McCully
Age 30 of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly Saturday February 5, 2011 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Born December 5, 1980 in Joliet, Chris is a son of Terry and Penny Laurie-McCully. He was raised and educated in Wilmington and was a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1999. Chris was an avid sports fan and particularly followed the Chicago Cubs, Bears and Bulls. He had a love of fishing and enjoyed the Smashing Pumpkins. Chris can be remembered for the love he shared for his children and he truly cherished the time spent with his family.
Survivors include his son Trenton; daughter Julia; parents Terry and Penny McCully; sister Carli McCully, niece Chloe McCully and the mother of his children: Sarah Willis, all of Wilmington; his maternal grandmother Joanne Laurie-Damakowski (nee Wilson) of Varna, Illinois; best friend Jake Bennett of Wilmington and faithful companion 'Peaches', as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Chris was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Donald E. Laurie and paternal grandparents: Ernest C. McCully and Mattie R. Horton.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday February 8, 2011 between the hours of 3:00PM and 8:00PM and Wednesday February 9th from 10:00AM until time of funeral service 11:00AM at Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. (815/476-2181) Pastor Ron Taylor from Island City Baptist Church in Wilmington will officiate and burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington. Jake Bennett will be an honorary pallbearer with acting pallbearers: Wade Chancey, Tim Stacey, Frank Cisneros, Tom Bradley, Greg Swieboda and Jason Willis.
Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Chris' memory to a trust fund being established for the benefit of his children Trenton and Julia.
