Charlotte "Lottie" Hildy

April 26, 1921 — November 8, 2016

Charlotte "Lottie" Hildy

Charlotte, “Lottie”, Hildy passed from this world to eternal life on Nov. 8, 2016 at her home, in her own bed, as she always wished. Her last days were filled with love of her family and friends surrounding her.  She celebrates now with her family in heaven.

Born in Morris on April 26, 1921, she was the seventh of eleven children born to Joseph and Anna Kowalczyk. Charlotte was baptized at Immaculate Conception Church in Morris and has been a life long member.  On October 19, 1940 she married Clyde Hildy.  In the first year of their marriage, they built their home where she resided for 75 years.  Together they raised seven children and opened their home to many others over the years.

During the building of the Dresden Nuclear Power Station, they were approached about providing mobile home sites for construction workers and their families. The Hildy Mobile Home Court was constructed to provide a safe, affordable place for families to be together and continues to provide that today.

Charlotte enjoyed conversations with  family, friends and strangers from all walks of life.  Her home was a welcoming gathering place for one visitor or a large group. She was always interested in “traveling the back roads” and making new friends wherever she stopped.

Charlotte Hildy was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, in 1990; her son, Clyde A. Hildy; two sons-in-law, Charles Larson and Kenneth Vlk; and by two great-grandsons, Joseph and Virgil.  Her parents, as well as all her brothers and sisters,  are also celebrating her arrival.

She will be deeply missed by two daughters, Judy Larson and Loreen Vlk; her sons, Wallace (Barbara) Hildy and Tony (Stephanie) Hildy of Morris, Dr. Frank  (Cindy) Hildy of Silver Springs, MD, Edward (Elizabeth) Hildy of Oswego, her daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Hildy and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

“Flowers are pretty, but the seeds of kindness produce the most beautiful bouquets.”  In her memory, please do an act of kindness for a friend or neighbor, or better still, for a stranger.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to a charity or organization that helps someone in need. As she always tried to instill in others, "Kindness is the shadow of God in man”.

The family will receive friends at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 600 East Jackson Street in Morris on Friday, November 11, 2016 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday morning, November 12th from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Ed Howe, CR will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Morris, where Charlotte will be laid to rest with her late husband Clyde. Pallbearers will be: Lon Larson, John Hildy, Jerry Vlk, Tony Hildy, II, Alex Hildy and Jacob Wantland.
