Charlotte Jean Van Duyne

Age 84 of Wilmington, passed away peacefully Sunday morning April 12, 2015 at her home.

Born October 15, 1930 in Coal City, Charlotte was a daughter of the late George Nicholas and Agnes Mabel (Gehrke) Hanson. She was raised and educated in Coal City, and graduated from Coal City High School. On September 3, 1949, Charlotte married Joseph Edward Van Duyne in Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, and together they made their home and raised their family in Wilmington. Charlotte was an active member of Saint Rose Church, where she volunteered for many annual turkey dinners and funeral luncheons. She enjoyed wintering in Arizona, the outdoors, gardening, birds and walking. She also took great pleasure in golf, quilt making, sewing, crocheting and knitting. Family was of the utmost importance to Charlotte, and she will be most remembered for her time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: Joseph (Georgene) Van Duyne of Coal City, Ann (the late Gene) Savage-Williams of Reno, Nevada, Gail (Robert) Tarman and Michael (Pam) Van Duyne, both of Wilmington, Mary Ellen (Jim) Gajcak of Shorewood and Christopher (Shari) Van Duyne of Wilmington; grandchildren: Joe (Billie) Van Duyne, Ed (Christina) Van Duyne and Brian (Brandy) Van Duyne, all of Wilmington, Sara (Roy) Savage-Davi of California, Colt Williams of Nevada, Lisa Tarman of Wilmington, Bob (Julie) Tarman of Joliet, Mike (Kristin) Van Duyne of Wilmington, Katy (Jamaal) King of Plainfield, Alexandria Gajcak, Jacob Gajcak, McKenna Gajcak and Rhett Gajcak, all of Shorewood, Luke Van Duyne of Chicago and McClain Van Duyne and Mason Van Duyne, both of Wilmington; (14) great grandchildren: Natalie, Joey, Clayton, Carly Jean, Courtney, Casey, Andi, Addison, Emily, Kingston, Kendyl, Camden, Caleb and Kinley; one sister Carol Hanson of Fresno, California; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Hanson of Florida, Mary Turan, Joyce Van Duyne and Betty Van Duyne, all of Wilmington and Kathryn Van Duyne of Coal City; one brother-in-law Bill Van Duyne of Arizona; numerous nieces and nephews; her dear friends: Sheilah and Charles Clark of Arkansas, and her devoted caregivers: Iryna and Vicki, as well as special hospice nurse Kailee.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph on November 28, 2002 and three brothers: Chuck Hanson, Merlin Hanson and Robert Hanson.

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow Friday morning, April 17th at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Rose Catholic Church, 604 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Steve Bondi officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wilmington, where Charlotte will be laid to rest with her late husband Joe.
