Charles G. Girot

"Chuck"

Age 100 of Coal City, passed away Monday, August 15, 2011 at Morris Hospital.

Born March 11, 1911 in Diamond, Chuck was a son of the late Gabriel and Vittoria Faletti-Girot. He was raised and educated in Coal City and attended Assumption Parochial School. Chuck married Mona Tarran and she preceded him in death on October 26, 1992.

Chuck was employed as a supervisor with APGreen, formally known as Illinois Clay Products until his retirement. He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church and through the years, he has done many things for many people. After his retirement, Chuck took on the roll of helping various local organizations. For 35 years, he served as the Braceville Township Supervisor, oversaw the township food pantry, which he operated out of his garage, and worked with the Red Cross, Salvation Army and We Care of Grundy County. For the past 25 years, he has also served on the Kendall-Grundy Community Service Administering Board, as well as previously served 12 years as President of the Goose Lake School Board. He was among the few who have donated a car to someone in need; acclaiming: "I had 2 cars and only needed one."

Chuck's compassion has been felt by many in the community and throughout the county. He is a man who saw the best in everyone and, even at 100 years old, strived to help anyone he could. He was a humble person who had a hard time saying no to anyone. He will always be remembered as a great guy who loved and enjoyed everyone.
