Charles E. Elder

Age 73 of Braidwood, passed away suddenly on Monday February 04, 2008.

Born January 01, 1935, Charles was a son of the late Walter and Josephine Smid-Elder. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from Fisher Body Company in Willow Springs after 33 years of service. Charles loved to work on lawn mowers and small engines and he lived in Wilmington until 1990 before moving to Braidwood. Charles greatly enjoyed telling jokes.

Survivors include his wife Jannie nee James; two sons: Dennis (Susan) of Bolingbrook and Jack (Carla) of Aurora; one daughter Shelby (Don) Nelson of Tacoma, Washington; six grandchildren: Jonathan, Jenna, Jamie, Luke, Loretta and Jake and one sister Laura (John) Cole of Christopher, Illinois, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Friday February 08, 2008 from 4:00PM until time of funeral service 7:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington. Deacon Donald Dyer will officiate and a private family interment will follow.

Preferred memorials may be made as gift's in Charles memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
