Charles L. Elberts
Age 92 of Coal City passed away Tuesday May 12, 2009 at the Morris Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Born November 3, 1916 in Coal City, Charles was a son of the late Ted and Louise Heylek-Elberts. He married Nellie Roberts of Morris in 1940 and she preceded him in death. Chuck served in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed on the Battle Ship Wisconsin in the Pacific Theater. In early years Chuck worked at the Atlas Paper Mill and later retired from UniRoyal at the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant after many years of employment.
Survivors include one grandson Bob (Joelle) Elberts of Coal City and two great grandchildren: Owen Elberts and Angelle Elberts, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister Elva; brother Joseph; son Charles, Jr. and grandson Gene.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Sunday May 17, 2009 between the hours of 4:00PM and 7:00PM and Monday May 18th from 10:00AM until time of funeral service 11:00AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Rev. Ron Hart from Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Morris.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Chuck's memory to his family for distribution to local charities of their choosing.
