"Cele"
Age 90 of Coal City, passed away Friday, August 22, 2008 at Morris Hospital.
Born September 24, 1917 in Coal City, Cele was a daughter of the late James and Margaret Vota-Bates. She was raised and educated in Coal City and on March 3, 1946 married John B. Bertot, Jr. in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City. Cele was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, where she formerly belonged to the Mothers Club. She ran the Bates Texaco Gas Station and Restaurant in Coal City for many years and in her free time she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband: John B. Bertot, Jr.; one daughter: Diane (Steve) Eartly of Coal City and three grandchildren: Deanne (Scott) Friddle, Stacie Eartly and Katie Eartly all of Coal City; Three great grandchildren: Austin , Alex and Lilliauna; Three sisters; Evelyn (the late Chuck) Suydam, Yolanda (the late Don) Valiente and Delores (William) Swanson all of Coal City; Two Sister-in laws; Josphine (the late Joe) Bates of Morris and Margie (the late Ken) Wills of Coal City; as well as numerous nieces and nephews including one special niece Darlene Palmer of Joliet.
Cele was preceded in death by her son John B. Bertot, III in childhood; her parents: James and Margaret Vota-Bates; one brother: Joseph Bates; one sister: Lois (Carl "Butch") Manietta and step-father Louis Stehlik.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Tuesday August 26, 2008 between the hours of 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral Services will follow on Wednesday August 27th at 10:00AM in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Lee Bacchi officiating. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery, Braidwood.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Cele's memory to her family for distribution to local charities of their choosing.
