Cathy J. Holcomb – Rios
Age 62 of Pontiac, passed away Monday afternoon, October 9, 2017 at Regency Care of Morris, following a battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) brain cancer.
Born September 25, 1955 in Joliet, Illinois, Cathy JoAnn is a daughter of Catherine “Katie” (Chaney) Holcomb of Marseilles and the late Delbert “Rocky” Holcomb. She was raised and educated in Wilmington, Illinois and graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1973. Cathy worked as a correctional officer for the Department of Corrections at the Dwight Correctional Center. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing and reading. Cathy also loved flowers, and took pleasure in gardening.
Survivors include her mother Katie; son Michael (Erica) Rios of Pontiac; six grandchildren: Alexandria Voorheis, Cierra Rios, Jaden Hershe, Michaela Harlan, Dallas Rios and Nola Rios; one great granddaughter Marlie; brothers and sisters: Kenny Holcomb of Pontiac, Connie (Ed) Koenig of Wilmington, Danny (Ashley) Holcomb of Woodlawn, Tennessee and Christie (Steve) Russell of Marseilles; numerous nieces and nephews, and her longtime love, Jeremy Missel of Odell, as well as two dear friends: Lynette Rudolph of Graymont and Karen Coyne of Pontiac.
Cathy was preceded in death by her father Delbert; daughter Marci Ann Rios and three brothers: Jimmy Holcomb, Steve Holcomb and Delbert Holcomb.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service 2:00 p.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, 903 West Custer Avenue in Pontiac. (815-844-7111) Reverend Dr. Roy Backus will officiate.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Pontiac.
