Catherine J. Bottino (nee Jongsma)
Age 92 of Wilmington, passed away Friday April 24, 2009 at her home.
Born October 18, 1916 in Lake Bluff, IL, Catherine was a daughter of the late John and Alida Jongsma. She taught Home Economics and Art at Warren Twp. High School in Gurnee and Lockport Twp. High School. For numerous summers Catherine lived in Grand Marais, MN and worked as a designer for a gift and floral shop. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, where she was involved with the C.C.W., member of North Shore Weavers, Fine Line Creative Art Center, charter member of the Will County Home Economics Association, member of the Joliet Weavers Guild, Marli Fine Line Creative Art Center, Trustee of the Lambert Fund and member of the Wilmington Garden Club. Catherine was also a graduate of I.I.T and Chicago Institute of Design.
Survivors include her daughter Ilsa Krone; three grandchildren: Sarah, Harold, Jr. and Toni VanDuyne and two great grandchildren: Haley and Aiden, as well as numerous friends.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents and husband Louis.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 28, 2009 from 4-7PM and Wednesday April 29th from 9-9:30AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington.
Funeral services will follow Wednesday at 10AM in St. Rose Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Steve Bondi and Deacon Don Dyer officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Catherine's memory to St. Rose School or the Wilmington Library.
