Cary Novy
Age 52 of Reddick and formerly of Coal City, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 20, 2016.
Born October 19, 1963 in Morris, Cary Drew is a son of Robert Novy of Carbon Hill and Judy Novy (nee Waters) of Coal City. He was raised in Coal City and was a 1983 graduate of Coal City High School. Cary served the Reddick Fire Department for 20 years, of which he was fire chief for 8 years prior to retiring in 2010. Cary owned and operated Malibu Trucking, as well as his own auto body repair service. Cars were Cary's greatest interest and he enjoyed stock car racing in Morris and Kankakee, as well as drag racing in Joliet. He also loved motorcycles and took pleasure in belonging to the Jeep Jammers.
Survivors include his parents: Judy (Ron Molaschi) Novy and Robert (Ronie) Novy; his wife Peggy (nee Howell); children: Brandy (Joe) Scheer, Kayla (Cole) Schoolman and Abby Novy (fiance - Joey Etzkorn); five grandchildren: Kylee, Cody and Emmett Scheer and Nathan and Liam Schoolman; one brother Kip Allen Novy; his father and mother-in-law: James L. and Lou Howell of Wilmington, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his lifelong friend Rick Berrong of Verona.
Cary was preceded in death by his grandparents: Gustav and Hilda Novy and Vernon and Ruth Waters.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Sunday, September 25, 2016 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. A private family inurnment will be in Bohemian National Cemetery in Braidwood at a later date.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Cary's memory to his family for their distribution.
