Carol A. Graczyk

Age 66 of Coal City and formerly of Plainfield, passed away February 2, 2009 at her home. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was a daughter of James Kara and Lydia (Sparr) (the late Joseph) Kina. She was raised and educated in Chicago. On January 16, 1971, Carol married Henry Graczyk in Chicago. Carol volunteered helping the Girl Scouts, and Big Brothers and Big Sisters. She also worked, managed and volunteered her time to a family domestic violence center for women and children. Carol was employed by Rembrandt Studio's in Stickney until her retirement. She enjoyed crafts, especially making angels and crosses, where she donated them to the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Dwight. Carol also enjoyed helping and doing many things for people which she did selflessly. She truly loved spending time and caring for her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Henry Graczyk, Sr.; Four children: Deb Macek and Deni (Todd) Bavone, both of Coal City, Henry, Jr. (Marcy McDaniel) Graczyk of Springfield, Missouri, and Michelle (Joe Lohnstein) Graczyk of Goose Lake; three Grandchildren: Ashley Macek, Andrea Bavone, and Dylan Lohnstein; one brother: James (Katherine) Kara of Tucson, Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Friday February 6th between the hours of 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral Services will follow on Saturday at 10:00 am in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Ronald Hart officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel in Morris.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Carol's memory to her family for distribution to local charities of their choosing.
