Age 72 of Morris, passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 16, 2007.

Born October 22, 1934, Carol was a daughter of the late Joseph and Ella Mae (McKinley) Chvatal. She was raised and educated in Coal City and graduated from Coal City High School. On February 28, 1959 Carol married William E. "Bumps" Carnegie in the Presbyterian Church in Coal City and together they lived most of their married life in Rock Island, until moving to Morris in 2003. Bumps preceded Carol in death September 28, 2005. Carol was employed for the United States Government in Rock Island until her retirement. Carol loved her dog Misty.

Survivors include one sister Barbara (the late Gene) Gleason of Joliet, one brother-in-law Ron Sampson of Morris and one sister-in-law Wilma Martin of Coal City. Five nieces: Cyndy Sampson of Morris, Susan (Larry) Tarman of Goose Lake, Lynne (Glenn) Smith and Lori Gleason both of Joliet and Debbie Carnegie of Colorado. Five nephews: Walter Martin of Joliet, Bill Martin of Diamond, Curt (Renee) Sampson of Morris and David Carnegie and Dean Carnegie, both of Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as several great nieces and great nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband William E. "Bumps", one brother Jack Chvatal and one niece Jackie K. Chvatal.

Cremation rites have been accorded per Carol's wishes and graveside services will be held Saturday May 19, 2007. Friends and family will be assembling for procession at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois 113) at 10:30AM. Graveside service will follow at 11:00AM in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery where Pastor Jen Beamsley from St. John Lutheran Church in Joliet will officiate.
