Carl R. Acker
Age 78 of Morris, Illinois and formerly Oshkosh, Wisconsin passed away Sunday December 10, 2006 at Morris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Born April 28, 1928 in Stanley, Wisconsin, Carl was a son of the late Ernest and Alice (Ecklor) Acker. He was raised and educated in Augusta, Wisconsin. Carl was a World War II Veteran, having served in the US Navy from 1945 until his honorable discharge in 1948. Most of his life, Carl was self employed as a professional photographer. He was a member of the Professional Photographer's Association of Wisconsin , South Central Photographer's Association, Charter member of the Kewaskun Lions Club and was a Boy Scout Assistant Scout Master.
Survivors include his six children: Doug (Rosa) Acker of Fontana, California, Dana (Lisa) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Orin (Brenda) Acker of Morris, Illinois, Robin (David) Sheets of Lancaster, Ohio, Lynette (Chuck) Hensley of Norwalk, Ohio and Elizabeth Acker of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Nine grandchildren: Jamison, Thomas, Tristan, Cory, Garrett and Spencer Acker, Chance Hensley and Mathew and Alec Sheets. Two sisters: Margaret (Harry) Armstrong of Eyota, Minnesota and Alma Mewhorter of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter in infancy.
Visitation will be held on Thursday December 14, 2006 between the hours of 5:00PM and 7:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block East of Illinois Route 47) in Morris. Funeral services will follow on Friday December 15th at 10:00AM in the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Ostrander officiating.
Burial with full military honors provided by Abraham Lincoln National Honor Squad and Buglar Tom Acker will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois. Jamison Acker, Tom Acker, Chance Acker, Mathew Acker and Alec Sheets will act as pallbearers.
