Bruce E. Egeland

Age 73, of Morris, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet, Illinois.

Born on July 18, 1951, in Morris, Bruce Eugene was the son of Roy and Ardelle (Johnson) Egeland. He was raised in Morris and graduated from Morris High School with the Class of 1969. On June 30, 1973, he married the love of his life, Debra Ziegenfuss, and together they built a home filled with love and cherished memories.

A hardworking and skilled craftsman, Bruce owned and operated Bruce Egeland Construction for over 30 years, earning a reputation for his dedication, integrity, and craftsmanship. Beyond his career, he was a devoted member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where he served faithfully as a Deacon.

Bruce will be remembered as a kind-hearted and generous man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He had a warm, easygoing nature and a gift for making others laugh. An animal lover at heart, Bruce especially cherished his dogs and found joy in horseback riding. Nothing gave him greater joy however than family.

His legacy of love, generosity, and hard work will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his sons: Eric (Jennifer) Egeland of Long Grove, Illinois and Jason (Shannon) Egeland of Minooka, Illinois; five grandchildren: Eliana and Anabelle, Bryce, Brie and Ryan; one sister, Kay (Craig) Matteson of Morris and three sisters-in-law: Kathie Egeland of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Paula (David) Kunzmann of East Moline, Illinois and Tina Sistek of Morris, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; wife Debra (2014) and three brothers: Kevin, Craig and Brent in childhood.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 202 W. Jefferson Street in Morris on Monday, March 31, 2025 from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service 2:00 p.m. Pastor Patrick Lohse will officiate, and burial will follow in Saratoga Cemetery, Morris where Bruce will be laid to rest with his wife, Debra.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made as gifts in Bruce’s memory to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 202 W. Jefferson Street, Morris, IL 60450.
