Blanche Hish

Blanche Mary Hish (nee Stybr)

Age 91 of Wilmington, passed away peacefully, Thursday July 02, 2009.

Born February 19, 1918 in Coal City, Blanche was a daughter of the late Victor and Mary Hajek-Stybr. She was a graduate of Coal City High School with the Class of 1935, and on April 24, 1937 Blanche married Luther Elvin Hish in Oswego. She retired from the Wilmington High School Cafeteria in 1980 after 16 years of service. Blanche enjoyed fishing trips with her family and friends, as well as loved playing cards and gathering on Monday nights at McDonald's with her friends.

Survivors include one son Gary (Julie) Hish and one daughter Gale (David) Czys, both of Wilmington; three grandchildren: Mark Czys of Champaign, Bret (Jennifer) Czys of Wilmington and Marnie (Jonathon) Jones of Diamond; six great grandchildren: Brendan and Blain Czys, Elizabeth, Even and Emery Czys and Grace Ann Jones, and two brothers-in-law: Herald (Nelma) Hish of Missouri and Donald (Velda) Hish of Illinois, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; dear husband Luther E. Hish in 2003; one sister Violet (Barney) Vigna; one brother-in-law Wayne (Helen) Hish and one sister-in-law Jeannie Hish.

Visitation will be held on Sunday July 5, 2009 between the hours of 4:00PM and 7:00PM and Monday July 6th from 9:00AM until time of funeral service 10:00AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington. Deacon Don Dyer will officiate and burial will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Gary Hish, Donald Hish, Dave Czys, Mark Czys, Bret Czys, Mike Vigna and Marnie Jones.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Blanche's memory to the Wilmington High School Foundation for Excellence; Joliet Area Community Hospice or Kuzma Care Cottage.
