Billy Keith Cain
Age 76 of Gardner Illinois, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday September 20, 2010.
Billy was born November 6th, 1933 in Mendon Missouri. He was a son of Hazel and Jack Cain and brother of George Cain, Marjorie Cain and Bonne Jean (Tom) McCoy, whom all preceded him in death.
Billy married his loving wife Mary Ann Wargo in Streator Illinois on May 5th, 1956, and she survives him along with his four children: Debra Hamilton of Omaha Nebraska, George (Lynne) Cain of Dwight, Lynn Fuhrman of Gardner and Brian Cain of Morris. (13) grandchildren: Terri (Jeff) Bacon, Sarah (Brian) Lee, Mary Back, Michael Enger, David Enger, George (Michelle) Kiska, Cindy (Travis) Alumbaugh, Shannon Cain, Dylan Cain, Cassie Cain, Brian Cain, Jr., Andrew Cain and Katie Cain; five great grandchildren: Zoeie Bacon, Christopher Lee, Madyson and Jordan Back and Abigail Alumbaugh and three sisters Mary Emma (Jack) Altman of Springfield, Joyce (John) Taylor of Ottawa and Betty (Bob) Cutler of Ottawa, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Billy graduated from Ottawa High School in 1953 and he served in the US Army from 1956-1958 as a morse code operator. After the service Billy farmed for 12 years and then retired in December of 1994 after working in Gardner for 23 years for the State of Illinois Highway Department. He also loved to tend bar for a few of the local establishments. Billy loved to play euchre, he bowled on the South Wilmington Team and was a great lover of nascar with Dale Earnhardt Sr. being his favorite driver and later being a fan of Kevin Harvick.
Billy was a very devoted and loving family man. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Mary Ann to 49 different states in their 5th Wheel over the years, and traveled to the 50th state of Hawaii by plane. His smile, sense of humor, and the ability to make us laugh will truly be missed by friends and family.
The family invites friends to a memorial gathering on Saturday September 25th, between the hours of 1:00PM and 5:00PM at the Dwight VFW Post 2608, 506 South Old Route 66 in Dwight.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Billy's memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, Illinois 60431.
