"Betty"
Age 88 of Joliet and formerly Wilmington, passed away Saturday June 29, 2013, at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Born April 04, 1925 in Wilmington, Betty was a daughter of the late Alfred and Mildred Hundley-Kuriger. She was raised and educated in Wilmington, and on February 20, 1949 Betty married Joseph M. Peterson at the Methodist Church in Wilmington. She held employment over the years as a Registered Nurse with Silver Cross Hospital, and later worked for various physician's offices in the Joliet area. Betty was a member of the International Order of The King's Daughters and Sons, Gaffney Circle and belonged to the Kingsway Kickers Dance Club. She will be remembered for her enjoyment of crossword puzzles and playing bingo.
Survivors include her son Michael J. Peterson of Joliet; two grandchildren: Kevin (Lark) Peterson and Erik (Liz) Peterson both of Bolingbrook; two brothers William (Norma) Kuriger of Coal City, James (the late Jeanette) Kuriger of Joliet; one sister Jeanette (the late Jack) Lewis of Wilmington and one sister-in-law Lorraine Kuriger of Florida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents: Alfred and Mildred Kuriger; husband Joseph (1991); brother Alfred Kuriger; brother-in-law Jack Lewis and sister-in-law Jeanette Kuriger.
Cremation rites were accorded and graveside services were held in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
Preferred Memorials may be made as gift's Betty's memory to the American Cancer Society.
