Betty J. Olson

Age 81 of Morris passed away Monday February 1, 2011 at her home.

Born April 3, 1929 in Joliet, Betty is a daughter of the late John and Catherine Corcoran-Clennon. She was a graduate of Saint Angela Academy with the class of 1947. In 1949 Betty married Jake Olson in Morris and together they lived in Morris their entire married life. Betty was employed at Sponge Cushion, Diamond International Self Locking and Metro Rubber. She was also the Matron of the Grundy County Jail prior to gaining the position of Grundy County Treasurer, of which she held from 1974 until her retirement in 1999. Betty was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris, The VFW Women's Auxiliary, Women of the Moose and the Illinois County Treasurer's Association. She enjoyed her monthly breakfasts with her neighbors; loved playing golf, tending to her yard and cooking for family and friends. Betty can also be remembered as a great Chicago Cubs fan and truly loved spending time with her grandkids and following them in their sports and activities.

Survivors include four children: Chuck (Bonnie Witalka) Olson, Dave (Patti) Olson, Rick (Kay) Olson and Janelle (Barry) Aldrich, all of Morris; grandchildren: Christopher (Sara) Olson, Keith (Melissa) Olson, Craig (Molly) Olson, Justin (Christy) Olson, Sara (Caleb) Moore, Andy Fillman, Maggie Olson, Benjamin Olson, Jake Olson, Drew Aldrich, Molli Aldrich, Emily Torch, Amanda (Justin) Anderson and Trent Olson; great grandchildren: Ethan, Kaleb, Owen, Braeden, Nolan, Griffin, Cavan, Cate, Ryker; one sister Catharine Broderick of Morris; brother-in-law Floyd Smith of Morris; sister-in-law Joanne Clennon of Joliet and special family friend Roseann Tibbott, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jake (1972), son James Olson (2004), brother William Clennon (2004) and sister Patricia Webster (2009).

Visitation will be held on Friday February 4, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 514 East Jackson Street in Morris between the hours of 2:00PM and 8:00Pm. Funeral services will follow Saturday February 5th at 10:00AM in the church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Ed Howe, CR officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Morris and pallbearers will be: Keith Olson, Justin Olson, Craig Olson, Andy Fillman, Trent Olson, Benjamin Olson, Jake Olson and Drew Aldrich.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Betty's memory to Immaculate Conception Catholic School or Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice.
