Age 87 of Gardner, passed away Sunday December 18, 2011 at Heritage Manor in Dwight, surrounded by her loving family.

Born September 27, 1924 in Gardner, Betty was a daughter of the late John Franklin and Josephine Kroll-Sowers. She was raised and educated in Gardner, and graduated from Gardner-South Wilmington High School with the class of 1942. On December 26, 1942, Betty married Chester "Chet" Huston in the Braceville United Methodist Church. After marriage, they resided in Braceville until moving to Gardner in 1956. Upon retirement, Betty and Chet relocated to Lakeland, Florida until returning home to Gardner in 2003. Betty worked for The Fox Center in Dwight for over twenty years until her retirement. She was a member of the Braceville United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved over the years with the Women of the Church and also belonged to the Lady Lions in Gardner. In Betty's free time she loved to bake and sew. She was renowned for her pies and greatly enjoyed doing alterations while residing in Florida. Betty also remained active in sewing at the clubhouse of her Florida community, and found pleasure in making hats, bears and lap quilts for the local hospitals, cancer patients and less fortunate.

Survivors include her two sons: Dennis (Patricia) Huston and David (Cathie) Huston both of Gardner; Son-in-law: Richard (Susan) Dinelli of Claremore, Oklahoma: four grandchildren: Colleen (Tim) Perkins and Eric Huston, both of Gardner, Tony (Kim) Dinelli of Tulsa, Oklahoma and David (FiancAC. - Deirdre) Dinelli of Claremore, Oklahoma; seven great grandchildren: Allison Perkins, Sydney Perkins, Nolan Perkins, Sarah Dinelli, Jakob Dinelli, Anna Cell, and Evan Dinelli; four sisters: Lorraine Brockman, Dorothy Muzzarelli, Becky Sowers and Marsha Sowers all of Gardner, and one sister-in-law: Sandy Sowers of South Wilmington, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Chet in 2005; daughter: Lynn Dinelli; four brothers: John Sowers, Bob Sowers, Archie Sowers and Harold Sowers and three sisters: Maxine Dite, Jean Treasure and Juanita Marshall.

The family will receive friends on Thursday December 22nd from 9:00 a.m. until time of services 11:00 a.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 203 Liberty Street in downtown Gardner. Reverend Andrea Boggs from the Braceville United Methodist Church will officiate and interment will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
