Age 88 of Morris, Illinois passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, February 12, 2025, at Serenity Estates of Morris.

Born on February 29, 1936, in Matthew, Missouri, Bertie Ann was a daughter of Bert and Lorene (Thacker) Qualls. She grew up in Malden, Missouri, where she received her education before marrying the love of her life, William Lewis, on July 4, 1952, in Piggott, Arkansas. Together, they built a home and a life in Morris, Illinois, where they raised their family.

A devoted homemaker, Ann was also a talented seamstress and provided ironing services for local families from her home. She had a deep love for the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls, always cheering them on with enthusiasm. However, nothing brought her greater joy than her family, and she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include three children: Jan (Butch) Harsh, DiAnn (Stephen) Chamberlain and Larry Lewis, all of Morris; grandchildren: Jim (Tracy) Harsh, Jason (Amanda) Harsh, Todd (Melissa) Harsh, Stephen (Kaleigh) Chamberlain and Bill Chamberlain; (14) great grandchildren: Austin Glab, Devin Harsh, Michaela Harsh, Andrew Harsh, Samantha Harsh, Hannah Harsh, Mason Harsh, Brayden Harsh, Camden Harsh, Hudson Harsh, Margaret Chamberlain, Theo Chamberlain, Nora Chamberlain and Hattie Chamberlain; one brother, Ed (Nancy) Hill and one sister, Marcella Coonts, as well as several nieces and nephews including her special nephew, Todd (Myrna) Hayes and their daughter, Amber.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband William (1992); son, Bill (1985); grandson, Michael Harsh and two sisters: Peggy Hayes and Kathy Ballard.

Per Ann’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded, and she will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery in Morris along with her husband, son and grandson.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Ann’s memory to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, Illinois 60431.
