Bertha M. Stone
Age 91 of Bourbonnais and formerly of Joliet, passed away Saturday evening, April 11, 2015 at The Miller Center in Kankakee.
Born February 19, 1924 in Reeseville, Illinois, Bertha was a daughter of George and Gertrude (Dunn) Turner. She retired from Joliet Township High School after 26 years of service in the maintenance department.
Survivors include two children: Loretta Underwood of California and Stan (Josie) Snyder of Kankakee; two step-children: Alice (Kenneth) Roberts of Joliet, and Mary Ellen Griggs of Danville; several grandchildren including: Shaun (Steven) Kennedy, Lauren DeKlerk, Audrey Snyder and Mason Snyder; many great-grandchildren; one brother; two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Orval Snyder; second husband Robert Stone; step daughter Evelyn Holt; step son Jim Snyder; two brothers and one sister.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until time of memorial service 11:00 a.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Inurnment will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood at 2:30 p.m.
