Bernie Gustafson

Age 86 of Wilmington passed away Sunday November 6, 2016 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Born February 14, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio, Bernie’s family moved to Illinois, where she was raised and educated in Sailor Springs. On December 28, 1982, she married James Ronald Gustafson at the First Church of God in Shorewood. Bernie worked for Personal Products Company in Wilmington for over 25 years until her retirement in 1996. She was passionate about maintaining her yard and working in the garden. Bernie enjoyed traveling, and loved all of her pets, especially her poodle, Angel.

Survivors include her husband: Jim “Gus” Gustafson; niece: Linda (Harold) Hazekamp of Oak Forest, Illinois; and nephew: Bob (Alva) Schroeder of Foley, Alabama.

Bernie was preceded in death by her parents and two daughters: Connie in 1993, and Sandy in 1998.

Visitation will be Friday, November 11, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service, 12:00 p.m., at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington. Burial will follow the funeral service in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
