Barbara Anne Nugent

Age 84 of Wilmington, passed away Friday January 11, 2013 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.

Born September 17, 1928 in Lockport, Barbara was a daughter of the late James H. and Barbara Howard Nugent. She was a graduate of Wilmington High School and Joliet Junior College. Barbara then continued her education, graduating from both College of Saint Francis and Northern Illinois University, where she earned several degrees in teaching. She spent 50 years teaching at Wilton Center Grade School and Saint Rose School in Wilmington. Barbara also tutored many children from her home. She spent many summers working at Camp Tiyalaka in Wisconsin and greatly enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Some of Barbara's favorite things were family get togethers, traveling, dancing, gardening and just spending time outdoors.

Survivors include brothers-in-law: Donald Russell of Wilmington and Robert Kahler of Neosho, Missouri; special niece Kathy (Roy) Sabuco of Minooka; special nephew Patrick Nugent of Wilmington; nieces and nephews: George (Pat) Nugent, Jerry (Jodi) Nugent, Mike (Sandi) Nugent, Chris Nugent, Joe (Janet) Nugent, Tom (Vilma) Nugent, Patty Nugent, Donny Nugent, John (Teri) Nugent, Steve (Michelle) Russell, Brian Russell, Nanette (Bob) LaGrange, Bobbi (Rick) Kahler, Suzette (Austin) Henderson and Danny (Sue) Nugent, and numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents James and Barbara Nugent; brothers: James (Jean) Nugent, Jack Nugent, Jerry (Jean) Nugent and Donald (Patricia) Nugent; sisters: Peggy Russell and Kathleen Kahler and dear nephews: James Nugent and Timothy Russell.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 15, 2013 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow Wednesday January 16th at 10:00AM in Saint Rose Catholic Church, 624 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Jeff Stoneberg and Deacon Don Dyer officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wilmington.
