Audrey Marie Kaufman, 85, of Morris, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Amita Health St. Joseph medical center in Joliet.
Born July 27, 1935 in Spring Valley, she was the daughter of Vincent and Mary (Caveglia) Faletti. She graduated valedictorian from Hall High School in Spring Valley with the class of 1953. Later she received her B.S. Degree in 1957 and M.S. in 1959 in education at the University of Illinois. Audrey taught in Spring Valley, Orlando Florida Elementary and kindergarten and third grade at Morris Elementary school. She married the love of her life Donald Kaufman on June 13, 1959 in Spring Valley. They spent 61 wonderful years together raising their family and moving to Morris in 1963.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; her children, Michelle (Rickie) Stewart, Karen (John Jr.) Zelko, Ann (Greg) Adkins, Janet (Stephen) Severson, Barbara (Gordon Jr.) Tompkinson, Phillip (Jennifer) Kaufman and Douglas (Elizabeth) Kaufman; grandchildren, Paul, Brandon and Nathan Stewart, Jennifer, John III and Trent Zelko, Amber Brown, Alyssa Alt, Tyler, Alex and Mitchell Severson, Gordon III and Caleb Tompkinson, Madison and Grant Kaufman; nine great grandchildren and two more due Spring 2021; brother, Matthew Faletti of San Jose, CA; sisters-in-law, Betty Faletti of Spring Valley and Sharon Faletti of Richland, WA; brothers-in-law, Gail (Marie) Kaufman of Wateska and Carl (Rose) Kaufman of Crescent City; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Vincent R and Duane Faletti; in-laws, Herman and Florence Marie Kaufman.
Audrey’s pride and joy was her family.
She was a long time member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, member of Council of Catholic Women, taught CCD for many years, taught kindergarten at ICS School, director of religious education at ICC, lifelong member of Grundy County Home Extension, an avid bridge player in two bridge groups and substituted in many. Volunteered at Morris Hospital and Grundy County 4-H programs. She enjoyed performances at Drury Lane for many years.
Faith, family and helping others was her passion. She greatly enjoyed annual family vacations at Chetek, WI with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 12, 2021 from 4-7 p.m. at the Fruland Funeral Home, 121 West Jefferson Street in Morris. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Sebastian Gargol officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery Morris, Il.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to Immaculate Conception Community Outreach, Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or Donor’s choice.
