Arlene J. Wroblewski

June 14, 1936 — October 8, 2024

Arlene J. Wroblewski

Age 88 of Dyer, Indiana, formerly of Chicago, South Holland, and Elwood, Illinois passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Dyer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dyer, Indiana.

Born on June 14, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, Arlene Jeannette was the daughter of Peter and Gertrude (Gniewek) Mackiewicz. She was raised in the Roseland neighborhood of Chicago and went on to graduate from Mercy Catholic High School with the Class of 1954.

Arlene met her "first and only love", Henry Wroblewski and they married June 7, 1958, in Saint Salomea Catholic Church in Roseland. She had said that "your first love is your forever love", and that is exactly how she felt about Henry. Together they would raise their family in South Holland, before relocating to Elwood in 1999.

She was a cherished member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington where her kindness and dedication shone brightly. She found joy in nurturing her beautiful garden, but her greatest happiness came from being a devoted wife, raising her children, and especially doting on her grandchildren who were truly special to her. Arlene was a lifelong lover of Boston Terriers, enjoyed Polka music, and was a passionate supporter of the Chicago sports teams, proudly supporting the Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks.

Arlene is survived by two children: Denise Charles (Ken Jaros) of Hegewisch, Illinois and Janet Wroblewski (Richard Roberts) of Monee, Illinois; three grandchildren: Zachary Wroblewski of Crest Hill, and Sarah and Adam Wroblewski, both of Dyer, Indiana; one Cousin Barb (the late Gene) O'Cull of Bartlett, Illinois.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband on January 14, 2017; and one son Gary Wroblewski on November 18, 2018.

Per Arlene's wishes, cremation rites are being accorded.

The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at St. Rose Catholic Church, 604 South Kankakee Street, in Wilmington on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Sebastian Gargol presiding.
