Annette Schock
Age 78, passed away September 24, 2015, after a long battle with Cancer.
Born November 12, 1936, Annette was a daughter of Jennie (Menietto) and Angelo Zambon. She lived in Coal City all her life.
On May 12, 1957, Annette married George Schock in Assumption Church. He preceded her in death, January 1994.
A graduate of Assumption School and Coal City High School with the class of 1954, Annette worked as a secretary for the Ordinance Ammunition Command from 1954-1958. She was later employed at Montgomery Wards in Coal City. In 1980 Annette was employed as a secretary for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission at the Dresden Station, retiring in 2001.
Annette was president of the Eileen Villagers and also president of the Council of Catholic Women of Assumption Church, where she was voted Woman of the Year in 1995. She was a director on the board of the Wilmington Island Squares. She enjoyed playing pinochle and was a member of the LPP club for 53 years. She also acted as secretary for the County Line Kickers. Annette loved to golf, line dance, play cards and travel (especially to Europe) and have coffee with the "Ranch Girls".
Surviving are sons, Kevin (Kathleen) Schock and Kenneth (Gina) Schock of Morris; daughters, Jean (Mark) Lissy of Coal City and Janet (Larry) Struck of Morris. Ten grandchildren: Brian (Katie) Aichele, Amber Lissy, Caryn (Brandon) Brasseur, Melissa (Tony) Siatta, Kyle Schock, Phillip and Greg Struck, Gianna, Brody and Trinity Schock. Two great granddaughters and two great grandsons and six step grandchildren. Sister Lorene (the late Wayne) Roseland and several nieces and nephews.
Annette was preceded in death by her sister Corene (James) Peters.
Visitation and video tribute will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2015 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow Monday morning September 28th at 10:00 a.m. in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street in Coal City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Robert Noesen officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Braidwood where Annette will be laid to rest with her late husband George.
Pallbearers will be: Brian Aichele, Phil Struck, Greg Struck, Kyle Schock, Brody Schock and Brandon Brasseur.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Annette's memory to the Coal City Food Pantry, Coal City Tornado Relief c/o The Grundy Community Foundation or to The Martha's at Assumption Parish.
