Anna Mae McArdle
Ann McArdle passed on to glory on December 18 surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter Beth in Champaign, Illinois. She was 93. She loved her God, her family and life. All who knew her will miss her smile and quick sense of humor.
Born September 02, 1915 in Morris, Ann was a daughter of the late William and Emily Turner-Mitchell. She was raised and educated in Morris and was a graduate of Morris Community High School with the Class of 1934. On November 24, 1945, Ann married John McArdle in the Methodist Church in Morris and together they lived their married life in Morris. Ann joined the Methodist Church in Morris in 1926, where she taught Sunday School. She and her husband belonged to the Moose Lodge. Her employment included the Weitz CafAC., the Joliet Arsenal during World War II, the cafeteria at Morris High School, the M-Hi Restaurant, and the Morris Daily Herald. In her free time Ann enjoyed gardening, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most recently she lived at Carle Arbours Nursing Home in Savoy, Illinois.
Survivors include sisters Marge Konc of Rockdale, Mary Luck of Dade City, Fla. and Joann Wawczak of Morris; her children Brent McArdle of Petersburg, Beth Morgan of Champaign, and Patricia Johnson of Morris; seven grandchildren Aaron McArdle and Justin McArdle both of Heyworth, Phillip McArdle of Boston, Kate Morgan-Olsen of Seattle, Noah Morgan of Chicago, Colleen (Johnson) Smith of Okeechobee, Fla. and Hans Johnson of Morris; seven great grandchildren Devyn McArdle, Jenna McArdle, Brent McArdle, Brendan McArdle, Alexis Bailey, Anthony Smith, and Jasmine Lash-Smith; three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband John McArdle in December of 1988, five brothers, and one sister.
Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 118 West Jackson Street in Morris on Sunday December 21, 2008 between the hours of 2:00PM and 5:00PM.
Funeral service will follow on Monday December 22nd at 10:00AM in the church with Pastor Doc Newcomb officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Morris.
Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Ann's memory to the First United Methodist Church in Morris or the Northern Illinois Food Pantry.
