Ann L. Czys (nee Barker)

Age 95 of Wilmington, passed away Wednesday September 30, 2015, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, with family at her side.

Born February 28, 1920 in Johnston City, Illinois, Ann was a daughter of Clara and Orin Barker. At the age of two, Ann’s father passed away and the family moved to Carter, Illinois, where she spend most of her childhood. Ann attended schools in Salem and later went on to work in a drug store. After moving to Sycamore, Ann continued to work in a pharmacy for 33 years. She married Edward Czys in 1965 and was a bookkeeper for Ed’s Welding Shop for 46 years. Ann also volunteered for Royal Willow Nursing Home in Wilmington, where along with her long-time friend Jonnie Morton, started the first bible study in the nursing home, which continued for 33 years.

Ann leaves behind to mourn, three step children whom she loved as her own: Mary (Ben) Wilson and David (Gale) Czys, both of Wilmington and Christine Krahn of Naples, Florida. Seven grandchildren: Mark Czys of Champaign, Bret (Jen) Czys of Wilmington, Michael Wilson of Coal City, Robyn Ybarra and Greg Wilson, both of Wilmington, Wendy Webb of Florida and Richard (Krystal) Woodward of Greenup; (11) great grandchildren: Ellie Czys, Evan Czys, Emery Czys, Brendan Czys, Blain Czys, Dylan Webb, Gabby Webb, Addyson Ybarra, Brice Woodward, Jaycee Woodward and Connor Woodward.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Michael Woodward and husband Edward Czys.

Ann was a 46 year member of Grace Lutheran Church, (907 Luther Drive in Wilmington, IL 60481), and in lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory may be made to the church.

May she be remembered with love.

Visitation and video tribute will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until time of funeral service 7:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Pastor Zak Wagner from Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Graveside services will follow Sunday October 4th at 2:00 p.m. in East Lawn Cemetery in Salem, where Ann will be laid to rest with her late husband Ed. Pastor Douglas E. Meyer from Salem Lutheran Church will officiate committal services.
