Andrew W. Meikle, III

Age 80 of Braceville, passed away Friday July 03, 2009 at Provena Saint Mary's Hospital in Kankakee.

Born May 11, 1929 in Chicago, Andrew was a son of the late Andrew W. Meikle, II and Lillian Klode-Meikle. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and a graduate of the Chicago Police Academy. Andrew retired as a Sergeant from the Chicago Police Department in 1986 and was a member of the Wilmington VFW and the Wilmington Moose Lodge.

Survivors include four children: Andrew W. (Stella) Meikle, IV of Wisconsin, Catherine A. (Harry) Ott of Bridgeview, Melissa K. (Craig) Anderson of Colorado and William A. Meikle of Braceville; his loving partner Patsy Powell of New Lenox and five grandchildren.

Andrew was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Beverly Woodruff.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday July 9, 2009 from Reeves Funeral Home, 219 N. Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington at 10:00AM, proceeding in procession to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood for 11:00AM Military Honors.

In Lieu of flowers, preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Andrew's memory to the Wilmington VFW.
