Amy Berger

Amy Elizabeth Berger, Ed.D was born April 24, 1967 in Chicago. Her family moved to Wilmington and she began kindergarten in Wilmington schools, graduating from Wilmington High School in 1985. She continued her education at U of I Champaign and U of I Chicago while working as a reservationist at TWA, which offered her and her family wonderful travel opportunities. During these years she was also a primary caregiver for her maternal grandmother.

After teaching in the Los Angeles school district, she taught a variety of computer classes at San Diego State University for eleven years. She continued her education at Pepperdine University, earning a doctorate in Educational Technology which led to her a recent career position at Jacksonville University in the Davis College of Business.

Due to complications after two recent emergency surgeries at Baptist Medical South Hospital in Jacksonville, Amy’s beautiful spirit left this earth on March 10, 2015. She is survived by her mother Katherine (Shirley) Berger, brother Christopher, brother Matthew and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her father John in November 2011.

In addition to loving education, Amy loved her family as well as its genealogy, her friends, her animals, music, travel and the best of what life has to offer. Her bright, lively spirit will be sadly missed by many.

The family will receive friends on Friday March 20, 2015 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Graveside services and inurnment will follow Saturday morning March 21st at 11:00 a.m. in Mount Olivet Cemetery, located at West Kahler Road and West Street in Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials made be made as gifts in Amy’s memory to Samaritan’s Purse, Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
