Streator

Aliene Louise Daugherty

Age 77 of Streator, Illinois, formerly of Wilmington, Illinois and Braidwood, Illinois passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Born on August 8, 1948, in Silverton, Oregon, Aliene Louise was the beloved daughter of Amos and Martha (Leatherman) Porterfield. She was raised in Oregon and later moved to California. She went on to marry the love of her life Doyle Ray Daugherty, on December 19, 1970, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Once married, they began planting their roots in Illinois.

She was a devoted wife and mother, spending much of her time caring for her family and their businesses, Continental Amusements, and the Mar Theatre. She then went on to work at the Embassy Casino for many years before retiring.

Aliene was a woman of many passions, always keeping herself busy with the family business. She enjoyed baking, gardening and spending time with her family, especially the love of her life, Doyle. Traveling with Doyle was something she always looked forward to, and the two were never apart. Aliene had a natural ease about her, with a smile that came easily and a laugh that was contagious. She always managed to see the good in people, making her a genuinely pleasant person to be around. Compassionate and well-liked, Aliene was someone who everyone loved.

She is survived by her two children: Bridget Cavallucci, and Adam (Jessica) Daugherty; five grandchildren: Jacob (Brittany) Smith, Zakary (Alex) Smith, Scott (Laina) Scamen, Aiddan Daugherty, and Kennedy Daugherty; two great-grandchildren: Bentley and Delanie Smith; four brothers: Virgil Porterfield, Ronnie Bassler, Carlos Bassler, Jr.,  and Michael Bassler; two sisters: Loretta Schrodetz, and Joyce Watts; brother-in-law Arty Martens; multiple cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.

Aliene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Doyle; three brothers-in-law: Delton (Betty) Daugherty, Joe (Lynnette) Huml; two sisters-in-law: Edna Reppert and Francine Martens; parents-in-law Chip (Marie) Ferguson, Rosemary Huml.
