Alice A. Thompson, 97, of Morris, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Park Pointe Healthcare & Rehab Ctr in Morris.
Born February 28, 1924 in Morris (Grundy County), she was the daughter of Albert and Julia (Foxford)
Thompson. Member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris. She was baptized confirmed and married in the West Lisbon Lutheran Church.
She married Alden C. Thompson on May 12, 1945. They were married 70 years.
Best known for her chocolate drop cookies and her family’s favorite apple squares.
Surviving are her children: Tom and Ella Thompson, Jerry and Ginny Thompson, John and Vickie Thompson, Becky and Jerry Kleinmaier. 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; sisters- -in –law, June (Milton, deceased) Thompson, Donna and Tom Thorson, Maxine ( Russell, deceased) Thompson; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased by her parents; husband Alden in May 2015; brothers, Harold, Leroy, Adolf and Andrew; sisters, Selma Harrington, Clara Norris and Ethel Mickelson; sisters-in-law, Betty (Eugene) Hatteberg, Marge (Ronald) Johnson, Lillian (Everett) Thompson.
She had worked at the Grundy County Home Bureau office, served on Rationing Board during the World War II and all Steel equipment in Aurora. Alice started farming in Grundy County with her husband Alden and worked as volunteer at Morris Hospital for about 25 years, was an avid Chicago Bulls fan and loved to play scrabble.
Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Patrick Lohse officiating. Interment will follow in West Lisbon Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.
