Paul E. Lucas

Age 89 of Morris, passed away Friday, July 31, 2015 at Morris Hospital, surrounded by his entire family at his side.

Born July 29, 1926 in Verona, Paul Ellsworth was the son of the late John and Angie (Gard) Lucas. He was raised in Verona and graduated from Mazon High School. Paul went on to serve in the United States Navy, until being honorably discharged.  On June 29, 1946, Paul married Dorothy E. McBride in Morris, and together they made their home in Morris. He was employed by the Morris Federal Paper Board Company until the plant closed, and later retired from Morris School District 54, where he worked as a custodian at Garfield School. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and trap shooting. Paul raised hunting dogs and homing pigeons, and will be remembered for his love of country music, which he enjoyed both singing and playing on the guitar. A true family man, Paul cherished his wife, children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years Dorothy; daughters: Deb (Ed) Benante of Plainfield and Sandy (Bob) Pommier of Minooka, as well as Peg (Ron) Fleetwood of Channahon, who was like a daughter to Paul; grandchildren: Kristin Lucas of Normal, Neal (Nicole) Herman of Tampa, Florida, Paul A. (Kristy) Lucas of Naperville and Darcy Herman of Chicago; great granddaughter: Claire Lucas; great nephew Adam (Becca) Fleetwood of Morris, and great-great niece and nephews: Riley, Hannah and Parker Fleetwood.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; son Douglas Lucas; son and daughter-in-law Scott and Marcy Lucas; sister-in-law Barbara Lewis; niece Sherry Rath; nephew Jim Lanier, and great nephew and godson Wesley Fleetwood.

Cremation rites have been a accorded with a private graveside service in Evergreen Cemetery in Morris.
