Michele Bitner

Age 61 of Coal City, passed away Thursday, July 01, 2021 at the Lightways Hospice Inpatient Unit in Joliet, Illinois.

Born July 21, 1959 in Joliet, Michele Ann was a daughter of Michael and Lucille (Boyd) Sheridan. She was raised in Joliet; moved with her family to Coal City during her junior high years, and went on to graduate from Coal City High School with the Class of 1977. Michele worked in the cafeteria for the Coal City School District, however her greatest accomplishment was that of a Mom and Grandma. She cherished her grandchildren, which were her whole life.

Survivors include her children: Terry (Tiffany) Bitner, Katie (Matthew) Butts and Ryan (Shelbi) Bitner, all of Coal City; grandchildren: Jared, Kevin, Jackson, Brody, Addie, and Noah; one brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Celeste Sheridan of Coal City; one sister, Donna Sheridan of Morris, and the father of her children, Terry D. Bitner of Coal City.

Michele was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her mother-in-law, Evelyn Bitner, with whom she was very close.

The family will receive friends for a visitation at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 N. Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City on Monday, July 5, 2021 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Brad Shumaker officiating.

Michele will be laid to rest in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Mike Sheridan, Colin Sheridan, Morgan Sheridan, Steven Wankowski, Matt Butts and Gary Planeta.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made as gifts in Michele’s memory to her family for local causes special to Michele and to her family.
