Age 90 of Elwood, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Silver Cross Medical Center in New Lenox.

Born May 12, 1926 in Joliet, Britta Elizabeth was the daughter of Axel Peter and Mabel Priscilla (McCann) Johnson. She was raised in Joliet and graduated with the JTHS Class of 1944. Beth was an active member of Elwood Community Church, where she served as a deacon and participated in Rebecca’s Circle. She held employment at US Rubber at the Joliet Arsenal, and it was here that she met William Wallace, Jr., whom she later went on to marry. Beth enjoyed cooking and sewing; she took pleasure in working word puzzles and spending time in her yard gardening.

Survivors include her children: Linda (Roy) Granstrom of Morris, Jim (Beverly) Holt of Joliet, Scott Wallace of Morris and Brian (Christina) Wallace of Elwood; five grandchildren: Jennifer (Wesley) Meyer of Carterville, Illinois, Michael (Alma) Holt of Burbank, California, Jonathan Granstrom of Eureka, Illinois, David Granstrom (fiancé Amy Houghton) of Chicago and Victoria Wallace of Elwood; three great grandchildren: Madison, Paige and Avery Meyer, and several nieces and nephews, as well as her faithful companion Maggie.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill and one brother Gordon A. (Lorraine) Johnson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Elwood Community Church, 101 N. Chicago Street in Elwood from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 10:30 a.m. Pastor Carrie Kapral will officiate.

Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet, where she will be laid to rest with her late husband Bill.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Beth’s memory to the Elwood Community Church.
